There are two main airport options for flying to Santa Fe:
- Fly directly into Santa Fe Regional Airport (SAF) – the most convenient option, just ~15–20 minutes from downtown. It’s a small, easy airport with flights connecting from Dallas and Denver.
- Fly into Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) – about 1 hour away. This often has more flight options and can be more affordable.
We highly recommend renting a car if you can (or hop in someone else’s!), especially if you want to explore beyond downtown as rideshare options are very limited. Rental cars are available at both airports.
If you choose not to rent a car, options from the ABQ airport to Santa Fe include:
- Shuttles: Private or shared shuttles between ABQ and Santa Fe, with pickup directly from the airport and drop-off in downtown Santa Fe.
- Train: The New Mexico Rail Runner Express from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. From the airport, you’ll first take a short shuttle or bus to the downtown Albuquerque train station, schedule is limited and will likely require pick up upon arrival in Santa Fe.
And once you get to Santa Fe:
- Downtown Santa Fe is very walkable
- Rideshares do exist! But be prepared for long wait times on Uber
- There is also a free local shuttle around key areas like the Plaza, Canyon Road, and the Railyard
